Halloween was barely over and the neighborhood was already making its transformation.
A couple of unseasonably warm days the beginning of November put many people in the spirit. The spirit to move from the orange and black holiday decorations to the red and green decorations of Christmas. And while the lights would not be lit until later in the month when Thanksgiving celebrations ended, the ladder scaffolding and scissor lifts were booked for outdoor lighting projects. And the decorating frenzy appeared to be contagious. As one neighbor on the street installed their lights, other neighbors felt both the spirit and the pressure to join the planning for the upcoming holiday season.
Once the house peaks are decorated, the small lifts are moved to the street and are used for putting up lights in the trees that line the streets through many neighborhoods. And while some neighbors hire their decorating out to lawn and landscaping companies, other neighbors go together and simply schedule their own equipment rental for the day and complete the jobs themselves.
Small and Large Equipment Rentals Can Help Both Companies and Individuals Achieve Their Goals
It is easy to find unexpected uses for the best equipment. Once you have taken scissor lift training through an equipment rental location, for instance, it is easy to see the number of ways this piece of equipment could be used. From changing light bulbs in large warehouses to hanging seasonal banners in a parking lot, an equipment rental like a scissor lift is very useful. Even when you or your company decide that a certain piece of equipment is very useful, however, purchasing that equipment is not always the best decision. Instead, the option of working with equipment rental companies is often still the best option.
Renting equipment means that you never need to take care of the regular maintenance requirements. Faulty parts, or needed upgrades are the responsibility of the rental company. Additionally, renting equipment means that you do not need to store these large pieces of machinery when they are not in use. The decision to purchase or rent a piece of heavy equipment often comes down to a couple of careful considerations: cost, maintenance, and storage. In fact, the cost of maintaining and storing this equipment is often the reason that some companies quickly sell large equipment items that they buy. After a few years of dealing with the sometimes difficult to predict maintenance issues, it often seems smarter to simply sell the equipment to a rental dealer and rent it on those occasions when it is needed. For instance, over the past couple of years, an estimated 51% of new construction equipment manufactured has made its way back onto rental lots for this very reason.
The Equipment Rental Business in America Is Thriving
From major road construction projects to simple maintenance of manufacturing space with high ceilings, the heavy equipment market continues to grow. Even some of the largest construction firms rent, rather than own the equipment that they need. And while the average citizen may think that the equipment they see on road and construction sites around the country is actually owned by the company completing the work, this is often not the case. In fact, a general rule of thumb in the construction industry is that if you do not use a piece of equipment more than 60% to 70% of the time, you should consider renting. As a result, the ARA Rental Market Monitor, indicates that the Rental Market was projected to reach $12.1 billion in the year 2014 and to grow to $14.3 billion in the year 2015. The American Rental Association indicates that rental revenue has grown at more than triple the rate of the general economy in the last few years.
Adding to the allure of renting, rather than buying, construction equipment is the fact that construction equipment can be rented for any length of time, from one day to one month, to as long as one year. In a time when many companies are trying to find the most profitable ways to run their businesses it may come as no surprise that the rental option grows increasingly popular. It is a safe and affordable way to get the machines that companies need most.
