The Benefits of Low VOC Paints

It feels like a given to say that the fewer chemicals that are used in your home the better. Research and technology have been used to reduce the chemicals in our cleaning supplies, the food we eat, and now, the paint we use to personalize our living spaces.
Volatile Organic Compounds (VOCs) are solvents that get released into the air and can cause dizziness or headaches to the person using it. The long term health effects from VOCs are still generally unknown.
In a recent study, participants spent six full work days in an environmentally-controlled office space at the TIEQ lab at the Syracuse Center of Excellence. In this space, VOC levels were reduced to approximately 50 micrograms per cubic meter and 40 cubic feet per minute of outdoor air per person. They found that, on average, cognitive scores were 101% higher than in conventional workspaces.
